How it works
A coin is created on pump.fun and tied to one GoFundMe fundraiser. When people trade the coin, pump.fun pays creator fees. We collect those fees, sell them for dollars, and donate the dollars to the fundraiser. The organiser sees an ordinary donation.
Launching from this site
- Paste a GoFundMe link.
You confirm the fundraiser before anything is created. It cannot be changed afterwards.
- Name the coin.
We create it on pump.fun for you. pump.fun pays a coin’s creator fees to the wallet that created it, so each coin is created from a wallet that exists only to pass those fees to its fundraiser. Nobody has to be trusted to hand them over.
- Trading pays the fundraiser.
Every few minutes the fees are collected, sold for dollars, and donated under the name “$TICKER holders”. Every donation gets a public receipt.
Launching on pump.fun yourself
You can also create the coin on pump.fun directly and we will find it. Three things have to be true, and we check all three on the chain rather than taking anyone’s word:
- The coin’s website is the GoFundMe link.
Set it when you create the coin. pump.fun does not allow it to be edited later.
- Its creator fees are shared to our treasury.
In the coin’s creator settings, turn on fee sharing and add FeesWJwZzMQiiZWHff3y2EYahUbJ46mfqMDfBr2Yxhck as a recipient. Any share works; the coin’s page shows what share it is.
- The shares are locked.
Finalise them so they can no longer be changed. A share that could be moved away later is not a promise, so an unlocked coin is not listed until it is locked.
The site scans for coins like this every few minutes and lists them on its own. If you would rather not wait, paste the address on the launch page.
Where the money goes
Of every dollar collected, 90% is donated to the fundraiser and 10% buys $GOOD on the open market and burns it. That is our only cut, and it is never held as cash. GoFundMe charges its usual card fee of 2.9% + $0.30 on the donation, as it does for any card.
All three figures are printed on every receipt, and they always add up to the amount collected.
What stops a donation being sent twice
Each step that moves money (collecting fees, selling them, donating, buying the token back) is written to a ledger before it runs, under a key derived from the coin’s running totals. The same key is given to the other side.
- A step that already completed is skipped.
- A step that failed partway is retried under the same key, so the other side rejects a duplicate.
- Money between steps stays on the coin’s record until the next step confirms it, so a failure strands nothing.
- The buyback runs after the donation. If it fails, the fundraiser has still been paid.
Small amounts
A donation smaller than the card fee would mostly pay the card fee, so fees build up until there is at least $10 to send. They stay on the coin’s record while they wait.
If the organiser would rather not
Nothing is asked of them. If they would rather not receive these donations, we stop, and anything collected after that is held rather than sent anywhere else. More for organisers
